I tend to disagree that a Guinea pig is the perfect pet for a child. ONLY if an adult supervise and takes care of the animal too would it be a good choice. Guinea pigs are like having cats. They need lots of love, care, vet appointments, floor time or time out of their cage and 
they require  a healthy clean environment, a control diet, etc.
